Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta and Chief of Department Salvatore Cassano joined representatives from City Harvest and the New York Daily News to kick off the 26th annual ‘Daily News Readers Care to Feed the Hungry’ food drive on Nov. 20 at the quarters of Engine 7/Ladder 1 in lower Manhattan. New Yorkers can bring non-perishable food products to firehouses, police precincts, the Daily News lobby, and Modell’s Sporting Goods stores from Nov. 20 to Jan. 9.

The Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) conducted a sweep of all 810 scales used at LaGuardia and JFK International Airports to ensure passengers are fairly charged for checked baggage. Scales at LaGuardia are now 100% accurate. Scales at JFK are now 98.5% accurate. Travelers should check airport scales for the official DCA seal, which indicates a passed inspection.
