Dennis deLeon, Esq.
Mr. deLeon worked as a law clerk for the California
Court of Appeals, an associate at Los Angeles' Kadison, Pfaelzer,
Woodward, Quinn & Rossi, a trial attorney for the United States
Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and regional counsel
to California Rural Legal Assistance. Mr. deLeon began his
New York career at the Office of the Corporation Counsel,
where as a senior assistant corporation counsel he focused
on civil rights cases and supervised police misconduct actions.
At the same time, in 1986 he was appointed director of the
Mayor's Commission on Latino Concerns. In 1988, he became
deputy Manhattan borough president and in 1990, Mayor David
Dinkins appointed Mr. deLeon chair of the New York City Commission
on Human Rights. He returned to private practice in early
1994 and since September of 1994, has served as president
of the Latino Commission on AIDS. Currently a member of the
New York State Bar Association and the Association of the
Bar of the City of New York, Mr. deLeon is the city council
designee from Manhattan and has been a board member since
October 2003.
