CEO Releases Report on Alternative to the Federal Poverty Measure This working paper explains how the CEO measure, which is based on recommendations made by the National Academy of Sciences, was constructed. The paper also discusses the new measure’s impact on New York City's poverty rate. New York City is the first local government in the nation to reformulate the widely criticized 40-year old poverty measure. Federal legislation proposing changes to the official measure were subsequently introduced by Rep. McDermott (D-WA) and Sen. Dodd (D-CT). Mayor Bloomberg Announces the Successful Launch of 31 New Center for Economic Opportunity Anti-Poverty Programs During its First Year On December 27, Mayor Bloomberg announced that the Center for Economic Opportunity successfully implemented 31 new anti-poverty programs since being created in 2006. In addition, CEO released its first Strategy and Implementation Report, which provides an overview of strategy and details each new program.
