CEO Releases Fifth Annual Report
April 2012 CEO's fifth annual report, Local and National Impact, highlights CEO's accomplishments over the last year, including CEO's receipt of the Harvard Kennedy School Innovations in American Government Award, CEO's efforts to replicate promising programs through the Young Men's Initiative and the federal Social Innovation Fund, and the Census Bureau's release of the Supplemental Poverty Measure, which was informed by the CEO Poverty Measure.

SaveUSA Implementation Report Released
May 4, 2012
The New York City Department of Consumer Affairs’ Office of Financial Empowerment has released a new brief, “SaveUSA Program Implementation: Insights from the Field.” SaveUSA is a tax-time matched savings program designed to encourage short-term savings among low- to moderate income tax filers. Based on the previous $aveNYC pilot, SaveUSA is one of five New York City programs being replicated in cities across the country with the support of the federal Social Innovation Fund.

Works Progress Program Update
May 8, 2012
Having received a high number of strong proposals from New York City’s community based organizations, CEO and the NYC Human Resources Administration are no longer accepting applications for the Work Progress Program. CEO and HRA may re-open the WPP application this fall and look forward to the next round.

RFP Released: Jobs-Plus
May 1, 2012
CEO and the Human Resources Administration (HRA), in collaboration with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), are seeking qualified vendors to implement the Jobs-Plus program. Jobs-Plus is a program for NYCHA residents that combines on-site employment services, rent-based and other financial incentives to "make work pay", and community support for work to increase the level of employment and earnings in NYCHA communities. The program is funded by HRA and the Young Men's Initiative.

CEO Marks Fifth Anniversary
March 30, 2012
Mayor Bloomberg, Deputy Mayor Gibbs, and CEO Executive Director White marked CEO’s five-year anniversary with a forum convening national experts, government representatives, nonprofit leaders and philanthropic partners to discuss CEO’s progress and reflect on the ways that its work can inform local and national policy. The event also featured a presentation of the Innovations in American Government Award to CEO by Harvard Kennedy School, pictured above.

RFP Released: AIM Program
March 30, 2012
CEO and the Department of Probation are seeking qualified vendors to operate the AIM (Advocate, Intervene, Mentor) Program. AIM is an intensive mentoring and advocacy program serving adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18 who are on juvenile probation or facing institutional placement as a result of a Family Court disposition. The program is funded by the Young Men’s Initiative. *Proposals are due Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm*

CEO Wins Harvard Innovation Award
February 12, 2012
Harvard University announced that the Center for Economic Opportunity has won the Innovations in American Government Award given by the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. The award recognizes the Center’s innovative anti-poverty work and endorses CEO as a national model.

SaveUSA Participants Receive Nearly $1 Million in First Year of Multi-City Program
January 30, 2012
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, CEO Executive Director Veronica White, and Department of Consumer Affairs Commissioner Jonathan Mintz announced the results of the first year of SaveUSA, one of five innovative programs that CEO is expanding in New York and cities across the country through the Social Innovation Fund. SaveUSA is a tax-time matched savings initiative that is based on the successful SaveNYC program.

CUNY Releases ASAP Follow-up Report
January 2012
CUNY ASAP is a successful CEO program that has doubled the three-year graduation rate of participating students at the City's six community colleges. The program offers a range of academic and financial supports, including cohort-based classes, block-scheduling, one-on-one advisement, and free tuition, books, and MetroCards.

New CEPS Providers Announced
February 1, 2012
The Department of Probation has announced that seven organizations will receive Community Education Pathways to Success (CEPS) awards as part of the Mayor’s Young Men’s Initiative. The organizations will offer CEPS pre-GED programs to young adults between the ages of 17.5 and 24 who are on probation and who read between the 4th and 8th grade levels. The expansion of CEPS is supported by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, Open Society Foundations, and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
