The New York City Water Supply watershed extends 1,972 square miles across parts of eight New York counties and Fairfield County, Connecticut. The oldest reservoir system, the Croton, is entirely east of the Hudson River and supplies about 10% of the daily demand. The Catskill/Delaware watershed, responsible for almost 90% of daily needs, is primarily in the Catskill Mountains.
