Regulatory Background Since the early 1990s, DEP’s Long-Term Watershed Protection Program has been closely aligned with a series of conditional filtration waivers typically issued every five years by the US Environmental Protection Agency and/or the New York State Department of Health pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1986 and its subsequent amendments. DEP’s current Filtration Avoidance Determination covers the ten-year period 2007-2017. Learn more |
