Hundred Year Association Recognize Iris Allen with Public Service Award - DHS Records Officer Iris Allen, who has worked for the City for more than two decades in various positions, was awarded the Isaac Liberman Public Service Award by the Hundred Year Association of New York at an awards ceremony on Dec. 20th at One Police Plaza. Guests included Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, DHS Commissioner Robert V. Hess, other New York City Commissioners and CEO’s of member corporations. This prestigious award is presented to career employees who have consistently distinguished themselves in city government through outstanding performance. Initiated in 1958, the public service awards are named for Isaac Liberman, who founded The Hundred Year Association in 1927 to recognize and reward dedication and service to the City of New York by businesses and organizations that have been in operation in the City for a century or more and by individuals who have devoted their lives to the City as City employees.

United Kingdom Contingent Visit DHS -
A contingent from the United Kingdom visited New York City on December 8, 2006 to learn about best practices in ending homelessness and how those practices can be applied in the United Kingdom, including site visits and a meeting with key staff members of the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). Homeless New Yorkers Connect to Health and Human Services During One Day Event -at the Doe Fund’s Ready, Willing, and Able shelter in Harlem that connected more than 200 homeless New Yorkers to services, resources and housing placement options in a comfortable and informal environment and under one roof. More than 50 people were placed into housing that day.
