New York City is on the move against influenza. If you are concerned about seasonal flu or the new H1N1 virus, this website makes it easy to find vaccines, treatment and information.

The City has begun to distribute the H1N1 vaccine, and is offering free vaccination to students whose parents want them to receive it. New Yorkers looking to prevent or treat H1N1 influenza, including getting vaccinated, can search Where to Get influenza Services. Seasonal flu shots and flu mist are also available from many doctors, clinics and pharmacies - clinics can be found by searching the flu clinic locator.

This website also provides data on the spread of influenza in New York City.

H1N1 Vaccination

Vaccine to prevent H1N1 influenza is now available at health centers and weekend clinics in all five boroughs. People in the groups listed below can receive free vaccine at weekend clinics. Weekend clinics cannot serve children under 4, but most other sites can.

  • Pregnant women
  • Anyone 4 through 24 years old
  • People 25 through 64 with health conditions that make flu more dangerous. These include asthma, diabetes, chronic heart and lung conditions, kidney failure, or a weakened immune system.
  • Anyone who lives with or cares for children less than 6 months old
  • Health care workers who have direct contact with patients and cannot receive vaccine through their employers.

Seasonal Flu

New York City encourages all parents to have their children vaccinated by the child's medical provider. This year the City is also working with schools to offer the H1N1 vaccine at no cost to parents at elementary schools starting in late October/early November.
