AS WE APPROACH THE 9/11 ANNIVERSARY, CITY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE REMINDS NEW YORKERS THAT MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING IS AVAILABLE
New Yorkers Who Seek Counseling Can Call 1-800-LIFENET or 311 for Services
NEW YORK CITY - September 10, 2003 - As we approach the second anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) today reminded New Yorkers that free and confidential Project Liberty counseling is available for anyone who needs it by calling 1-800-LIFENET (543-3638) or 311 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, Project Liberty counselors will be on hand at the WTC site during tomorrow morning's ceremonies for anyone who may need counseling.
The Mental Health Association of New York City operates 1-800-LIFENET (1-800-543-3638), which provides confidential counseling and referral services, as well as access to free Project Liberty services. LIFENET is available in English, Spanish (1-877-AYUDESE), and Chinese (1-877-990-8585). For other languages, New Yorkers can call LIFENET and ask for a translator.
