Workers' Compensation and WTC Disability Law

Workers' Compensation

Eligible WTC workers and volunteers have the right to file a New York State Workers' Compensation claim. The registration deadline is September 11, 2010.
Uniformed FDNY, NYPD and DSNY employees and  DOE pedagogical employees are not eligible for New York State Workers' Compensation benefits. Please see pension benefit information for New York City employees.

New York State employees: Please see WTC Disability Law.
Note: Federal employees who participated in the WTC rescue and recovery  are not eligible for New York State Workers' Compensation benefits. Claims should be filed through the federal agency where you were employed on 9/11. If you filed a claim and were assigned a number, you can call (646)264-3000 for information about your claim. If you are a U.S. Department of Labor employee, please call (816)502-0301 for claim status information.

Please complete a WTC-12 Registration Form PDF Document (Reader Required; Click to Download) and mail it to:

Binghamton, NY 13902-5205

Registering now preserves your right to file a claim in the future.

The registration deadline is September 11, 2010.

WTC Disability Law

The WTC Disability Law establishes a presumption that certain disabilities for certain New York State employees were caused by rescue, recovery or clean-up operations at the WTC and entitle the employee to accidental disability retirement benefits (unless evidence proves otherwise).
