Discharge and Pickup Instructions for Bus Drivers
- You may stop in a "No Parking," "No Standing," or "No Standing except Trucks Loading and Unloading" zones only while actively loading or discharging passengers.
- You may not stop in a "No Stopping" zone.
- You may not leave your bus during loading or discharging.
Find out concluding times of events in advance. Drive to and wait in designated peripheral bus waiting areas between passenger discharge and pick up, (see authorized bus layover locations). Return to core only when ready to pick up passengers. Wait for passengers in "No Parking," "No Standing," or "No Standing Except Truck Loading and Unloading" zones no longer than 20 minutes, unless a duly authorized officer instructs you otherwise.
Special Drop-off and Pickup Areas (No Parking)
- South Street Seaport, use South Street, (east side), between Fletcher Street and Fulton Streets for drop off and pick up only. (Note: Starting May 14, 2009, the area under the FDR Drive between Pine Street and Maiden Lane will not be available for layover due to construction activity.)
- Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. Use 7th Avenue, (west side), between W. 31st and W. 30th Streets for drop off and pick up only. Drop-off only also permitted on W. 31st Street, (north side), between 7th and 8th Avenues.
- Battery Park and Statue of Liberty Ferry. Use Battery Place, (south side), between Route 9A and Broadway for drop off and pick up only.
- Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Use service road between 39th and 34th Streets, west of 11th Avenue for drop off and pick up only.
- Do not park in posted "Red Zone Bus Lanes."
- Do not stop in "No Stopping" zones or bus stops.
- Do not double park.
- Do not park at fire hydrants, in cross walks, or driveways.
- Buses with or without passengers may not idle engines at terminal points, except engines may idle for up to three minutes when the temperature is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or when it is necessary to build up air pressure to release air brakes prior to departure.

- Harlem River Drive
- FDR Drive (northbound prohibited north of 23rd Street; southbound prohibited between 116th and 15th Streets)
- Park Avenue (north of 42nd Street)
- Park Avenue Viaduct around Grand Central Terminal
- Elevated Henry Hudson Pkwy (Rte.9A north of 59th Street)
- Central Park Drives (except transverse)

If you violate these or other prohibitions you will be subject to a summons or towing.
