The City of New York Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:

Note: In the event of a security alert, there may be unscheduled traffic delays or detours at river crossings, on highways and on local streets as determined by law enforcement authorities. In addition, security checkpoints at many locations may cause delays. Please allow extra time when you plan your trip.

Design and construction functions related to major street and highway projects are performed by the Department of Design and Construction, which provides information on projects in your neighborhood.
Permits for parades, block parties, major street fairs and other public street events are issued either by NYPD or the Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management (CECM). Visit the CECM web site for the Citywide events calendar.

Note: Bold print in text indicates updated information.
East River Bridges/Tunnel Crossings
Brooklyn Bridge: One of three lanes may be closed in eastbound direction to Brooklyn as needed 10am to 3pm weekdays, 11pm to 6am Monday to Friday and Saturday and/or Sunday 2am to 2pm to facilitate NYCDOT bridge maintenance through December 2009.
Manhattan Bridge: There are five lanes from 6am to 10am Monday to Friday westbound (Manhattan-bound) of which two are on the north upper roadway (the left lane HOV2+) and three on the lower roadway; two lanes are maintained on the south upper roadway eastbound (Brooklyn bound). One lane on the lower roadway may be closed, as needed, 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday. No trucks are permitted on the North Upper westbound roadway from 5am to 3pm Monday to Friday. Overnight Monday to Friday from 3pm to 5am the next day, there are five lanes eastbound and two lanes westbound. There are five lanes westbound to Manhattan and two lanes eastbound to Brooklyn over the weekend from 9pm Friday to 10am Monday. The north bikeway is open, and the south walkway open at all times. One lane on the lower roadway is closed as needed. Lane closures may occur on weekends and overnight for maintenance and construction activity as needed basis through December 2009. The right turn lane from the north upper roadway (West/Manhattan bound) onto Canal Street East is closed between the hours of 9pm to 2pm Sunday night to Friday afternoon and may also close when needed 9pm Friday to 5am Monday (passenger cars are allowed to turn right from the center lane onto Canal Street East). Trucks and buses are prohibited from turning right onto Canal Street East and should follow posted detour via Chrystie Street, Grand Street and Allen Street for access to Canal Street East.
Williamsburg Bridge: There are four lanes westbound (Manhattan-bound) and two lanes eastbound (Brooklyn-bound) with two lanes closed for construction in the off peak direction weekdays from 6am to 10am. Weekdays from 10am to 3pm there are three lanes maintained inbound, and two lanes maintained for traffic outbound with three lanes closed for construction activity. There are four lanes eastbound and four lanes westbound all other times. These off peak hour lane closures are required to facilitate NYCDOT bridge maintenance and rehabilitation work until December 2009. Truck traffic is allowed on the bridge in both directions on the outer roadways only. Pedestrian and bicycle access maintained at all times.
Queensboro Bridge: The North Inner Lower Roadway is Manhattan-bound with access from Queens Plaza North to Second Avenue and East 60th Street. The South Inner Lower roadway is Queens-bound with access from 2nd Avenue to Queens Plaza South. Trucks are allowed on the lower inner roadways only. Trucks are prohibited from the upper and outer roadways. The North Upper Roadway is Manhattan-bound at all times. Access is to East 62nd Street/East 63rd Street in Manhattan from Thomson Avenue, 21st Street at Queens Plaza North, and 11th Street at Queens Plaza South in Queens. The South Upper Roadway is Queens-bound except from 5:30 am to 11am weekdays when the roadway is reversed and accommodates the Manhattan bound high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane Manhattan-bound high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane containing two or more people from 6am to 10am, Monday to Friday. Access is to East 58th Street/East 57th Street in Manhattan from Thomson Avenue or 21st Street at 43rd Avenue in Queens.
The North Outer Roadway accommodates bicyclists and pedestrians. The North Outer Roadway may be closed from 10pm to 5am. During these times a bus shuttle will be provided for pedestrian and bicycles. The South Outer Roadway of the lower level is open Queens-bound to passenger cars only with access from westbound 59th Street to Queens Boulevard. A total of one lane in each direction may be closed on the lower level from 10pm to 5:30am Monday to Friday; Saturday 12:01am to 7am; and Sunday from 1am to 11am. Additionally one of two lanes on the north upper roadway to Manhattan may be closed for roadway repairs from 10pm to 5am Sunday nights to Friday mornings.
Robert F. Kennedy Bridge formerly Triboro Bridge: At the Harlem River lift span one lane may be closed to Manhattan 10am to 2:30pm daily, two lanes may be closed 10pm to 5am Monday to Friday. One lane may be closed to Bronx/Queens from 6am to 2:30pm daily, and two lanes closed 10pm to 5am. At the suspension bridge and viaduct (two of four lanes to Queens may be closed 9pm to midnight Monday to Friday. Three of four lanes to Queens may be closed 12:01am to 6am Tuesday and from 12:01am to 5am Friday and Saturday. One of four lanes may be closed to Bronx and Manhattan 10am to 3pm weekdays, and two of four lanes closed 9pm to midnight Monday to Friday, and three of four lanes closed 12:01am to 6am. To accommodate NYCDOT roadwork on the FDR Drive southbound from East 125th Street to East 96th Street the RFK (formerly Triborough) Bridge off-ramp from the Harlem span onto the FDR Drive southbound will be closed beginning August 4th through August 17th; Tuesday to Friday 12:01am to 5am and Saturday and Sunday 1am to 9am. Motorists may use Second Avenue or Lexington Avenue as an alternate route southbound.
Note: The RFK Bridge and Third Avenue Bridge ramps will not be closed simultaneously. This work is for NYCDOT roadway milling and resurfacing activity.
Throgs Neck Bridge: The Cross Island Parkway ramp leading Bronx-bound motorists onto the bridge from Queens has one of two lanes closed. The three northbound lanes on the bridge Bronx bound will be narrowed to allow work to continue. Further repair and reconstruction work by MTA Bridge and Tunnels including a portion of a planned deck replacement, will continue into the fall 2009. Three lanes will be maintained for traffic throughout the project. Off peak single lane closures may occur Queensbound 9:30am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday, 10pm to 5am (7AM Saturday) Monday to Saturday. One lane may be closed Bronx bound 10pm to 5am (to 7am Saturday) Monday to Saturday.
Bronx-Whitestone Bridge: One lane may be closed southbound to Queens 9:30am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday, 6am to noon Saturday and Sunday. One lane may be closed northbound to the Bronx 9:30am to 2:30pm Monday to Thursday, 9:30am to 2pm Friday, 6am to 10am Saturday and Sunday. Two lanes may be closed to the Bronx 11pm to 5am Sunday to Thursday and 12:01am to 6am Saturday and Sunday to facilitate MTA maintenance.
Brooklyn Battery Tunnel: The inbound exit to Trinity Place is closed Monday to Friday 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm. There are three lanes inbound and one lane outbound 6am to 10am weekdays. As of November 27th, 2007 on weekdays from 4pm to 7pm there are two lanes outbound to Brooklyn in the south tube plus one contra flow lane in the north tube to Brooklyn. During these times one lane in north tube will be open inbound to Manhattan. One of two lanes in each direction may be intermittently closed as needed 10:00am to 3pm Monday to Friday. One tube may be closed, with two way traffic maintained in open tube 10pm to 5:30am Sunday nights to Friday morning. These lane closures are to facilitate MTA work.
Queens Midtown Tunnel: One lane may be closed in each direction as needed Sunday nights to Friday mornings from 11:00pm to 5:30am for tunnel maintenance and construction work by MTA until further notice.
Harlem River Bridge Crossings
Willis Avenue Bridge over Harlem River: One of four lanes is closed on the north side of the bridge. Motorists in the left lane may only proceed onto the northbound Major Deegan. The right and center lanes will continue to Willis Avenue or to Bruckner Blvd. Two of four lanes on the main bridge may be closed as needed 12:01am to 6am weeknights and 1am to 7am Saturday to the end of 2010. Pedestrian access will continue on the north walkway. The Manhattan pedestrian entry point at 1st Avenue and East 125th Street was closed December 11th, 2008 with a temporary access stairway placed at 1st Avenue and East 127th Street. The temporary staircase is not accessible to disabled persons unable to climb or descend stairs. Those people are encouraged to use Third Avenue Bridge as alternate.
145th Street Bridge over the Harlem River: As of June 17th 2007 two lanes in each direction were reopened to traffic. One of two lanes in each direction may be closed 7am to 3:30pm Bronx bound and 9am to 5pm Manhattan bound weekdays. A full closure of the bridge may occur overnight 10pm to 6am Monday nights to Friday mornings and 12:01am to 7am Saturday and Sunday for testing operations as needed (provided no closures occur at Macombs Dam Bridge) to complete testing for the NYCDOT bridge reconstruction project. No closures will occur from 2 hours prior to and until 2 hours after the end of the New York Yankee home games.
Hudson River Bridge & Tunnel Crossings
Holland Tunnel: This tunnel is open westbound to New Jersey for passenger cars, buses and two and three axle single unit trucks. Commercial traffic restricted eastbound to New York. One of two lanes will be closed westbound to New Jersey Sunday nights to Friday mornings from 11:30pm to 5:30am, and 12:01am to 8am Saturday mornings. These lane closures are required to facilitate PANY&NJ construction activity and maintenance. One of two lanes may be closed eastbound to New York Sunday night to Friday mornings 11pm to 5am. As of August 22/23 until November 22, 2009 Saturday and Sunday from 1:00am to 8am the tunnel is closed to New York bound traffic, eastbound, for roadway work. The tunnel will be closed westbound to New Jersey Saturday 2am to 8am, and 1am to 8am Sunday December 5/6, and 12/13, 2009. These closures will not occur on legal holiday weekends or for inclement weather.
Lincoln Tunnel: One of three tubes is closed Monday through Friday from 11pm to 5am and Saturday 1am to 9am and Sunday from 1am to 10am for PANY/NJ maintenance activity. During these times two tubes will remain open with two lanes of traffic available in each direction. These lane closures are required to facilitate PANY & NJ work.
George Washington Bridge: Lane closures may occur off peak hours to facilitate PANY/NJ maintenance work.
Henry Hudson Bridge: One of four lanes southbound (Manhattan-bound) on lower level is closed for long term construction by the MTA to facilitate MTA bridge construction work until the end of December 2009. One additional southbound lane may be closed 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday. One of four lanes northbound (Bronx-bound) on the upper level may be closed 7am to 2pm weekdays for maintenance.
Thanksgiving Day Parade Street Closures
State Street between Water Street and Battery Place;Water Street between State Street and Dover Street/Frankfurt Street/Brooklyn Bridge: One lane in each direction will be open 9pm to 5am Sunday nights to Friday mornings to facilitate NYCDOT milling and resurfacing to late November 2009.
FDR Drive southbound from East 70th Street to East 63rd Street: One of three southbound lanes may be closed from 11pm to 5:30am Monday to Friday to November 24th, 2009 to facilitate crane work for private contractor. Additionally the East 63rd Street exit ramp may be closed for 15 minute intervals between 2am and 5am.
West Street/9A between Chambers Street and Vesey Street: This construction is performed by NYSDOT. Three lanes of traffic in each direction are maintained during peak hours. Note: The at grade pedestrian crossing at Vesey Street is closed. Pedestrians are advised to use the Vesey Street Bridge or the Murray Street at grade crossing.
Vesey Street between North End Avenue and Route 9A/West Street: On June 6, 2009 this street will be made one-way eastbound, until March 31, 2010 to facilitate NYSDOT construction activity. Motorists are encouraged to use Chambers Street or Murray Street for access to North End Avenue or Battery Park City from West Street.
North End Avenue between Murray Street and Vesey Street: This street was converted from two-way to one-way southbound operation (Murray to Vesey) from June 19 until March 31, 2010 to facilitate roadway construction by NYSDOT and the Battery Park City Authority.
Rector Street between West Street/9A and Washington Street: The western end of Rector Street is closed preventing vehicular access from West Street 9A until approximately November 21, 2009 to facilitate construction of a Con Ed manhole. During this time the street will operate as a two-way dead end Street. Motorists should Albany Street to access Washington Street.
Washington Street between Vesey Street and Barclay Street: This Street is closed for construction until November 24, 2009.
Fulton Street between Gold Street and Dutch Street: The eastbound segment of this roadway as well as access to Ryders Alley is closed to facilitate long term capital water main and roadway work by NYCDDC through November 2009.
Church Street between Cortlandt Street and Vesey Street: As of July 23 long term building construction water main and roadway work will occur by PANY/NJ contractor while maintaining two lanes of traffic on Church Street.
Park Place between Broadway and Church Street: This street is one-way eastbound to facilitate NYCDDC sewer replacement.
Gold Street between Fulton Street and Ryder's Alley: This street will be closed Monday to Friday from 7pm to 6am, Saturday 8am to 6pm, Sunday 9am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation through November 19, 2009.
Lafayette Street between Jersey Street and Jones Alley: Two lanes plus the bike lane will be maintained for traffic to facilitate NYCT subway station rehabilitation until June 2012.
East Houston Street between Lafayette Street and Mott Street: Two lanes in each direction will be maintained for traffic to facilitate long term NYCT station rehabilitation until June 2012.
East 12th Street from Avenue D to Szold Place; Szold Place from East 12th Street to East 10th Street: East 12th Street was converted March 19, 2005 to one way westbound, and Szold Place to one way southbound to assist with NYCDEP's pumping station project through 2009.
East 13th Street between Avenue D and Avenue C: This street was converted to a two-way dead end street as of March 19, 2005 related to NYCDEP's pumping station project through 2009.
Avenue D from East 12th Street to East 13th Street: This roadway was closed as of March 19, 2005, to facilitate NYCDEP pumping station capital project through 2009.
2nd Avenue between East 101st Street to East 97th Street: Four lanes of traffic are maintained 7am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm weekdays, (three lanes other times) to facilitate long term NYCT Second Avenue Subway construction activity until the end of 2011.
2nd Avenue between East 96th to East 91st Streets: As of April 24, 2007 four lanes of traffic maintained 7am to 10am, and 3pm to 7pm weekdays, (three lanes other times ) to facilitate long term NYCT Second Avenue Subway construction activity to the end of 2010.
2nd Avenue between East 74th Street and East 68th Street: Four lanes of traffic will be maintained from 7am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm weekdays (three lanes maintained all other times) to facilitate NYCT 2nd Avenue Subway construction activity to the end of 2011.
11th Avenue between West 29th Street and West 25th Street: Three lanes of traffic are maintained to facilitate NYCT seven line extension construction. This work is estimated to continue through December 2011.
11th Avenue between West 30th Street to West 29th Street: Three lanes of traffic are maintained to facilitate NYCDOT bridge rehabilitation until approximately December 2011. Additionally the west curb lane is closed between West 33rd Street and West 30th Street.
West 72nd Street between Riverside Drive and the Henry Hudson Parkway: One lane will be provided at the West 72nd Street entrance to the Henry Hudson Parkway during bridge reconstruction by private developer. This work will continue until the end of January 2010.
86th Street Central Park Transverse Roadway between 5th Avenue and Central Park West: This roadway may be closed 9pm to 6am weeknights and 11pm Friday to 8am Saturday, and 11pm Saturday to 10am Sunday until late November 2009 to facilitate NYCDDC roadway and precinct building construction activity.
Amsterdam Avenue between West 155th Street and West 177th Street: One lane in each direction will be maintained from 10pm to 5am Sunday nights to Friday morning to facilitate NYCDOT milling and resurfacing until late November 2009.
Henry Hudson Parkway northbound between West 79th Street and West 96th Street: One of three lanes will be closed 11pm to 6am and two of three lanes closed northbound 1am to 5am weekdays and 1am to 6:30am Saturday to facilitate NYCDOT bridge repairs through November 2009.
Henry Hudson Parkway northbound vicinity of West 181st Street: One of two lanes may be closed northbound from 12:01am to 5am Weekdays, 1am to 6:30am Saturday, 2am to 9am Sunday to facilitate NYCDDC construction work through September 2010.
Riverside Drive between West 181st Street and the northbound entrance to Henry Hudson Parkway: One lane may be closed 8am to 5pm weekdays to facilitate NYCDDC construction activity through September 2010.
FDR Drive between East 81st Street and East 90th Street: One lane may be closed 10pm to 6am in each direction and two of three lanes closed in southbound direction 1am to 5am weeknights to facilitate NYCDOT bridge operations. This work is scheduled, as needed, between November 23rd to December 4, 2009.
Harlem River Drive northbound exit to East 125th Street: This exit will be closed from January 3, 2008 until the end of January 2010 to facilitate NYCDOT Willis Avenue Bridge rehabilitation. Motorists should follow posted detour and use East 135th Street exit.
Harlem River Drive under the Willis Avenue Bridge: One lane will be closed as needed southbound 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and northbound 9am to 2pm Monday to Friday 11pm to 5am Tuesday nights to Friday mornings; southbound 10pm Friday to 7am Saturday and northbound 12:01am to 6:30am Saturday on an as need basis, until the end of 2010 to facilitate NYCDOT bridge rehabilitation. Intermittent northbound closures of 15 minute intervals every hour between 1am and 5am Tuesday to Saturday will occur between October 19 and November 28, 2009.
Trans Manhattan Expressway (I95) Eastbound Ramp to the Washington Bridge: This ramp will be closed Wednesday August 19, 2009 for approximately 2 years to facilitate NYSDOT construction activity. Motorists should plan alternate route or follow posted detour via Amsterdam Avenue northbound to West 181st Street.
Exterior Street Ramp at East 157th Street to the northbound Major Deegan Expressway: This ramp is closed until December 15, 2009 to facilitate NYSDOT ramp rehabilitation work.
West 246th Street Bridge over Henry Hudson Parkway: As of October 13, 2008 through November 2009 one lane in each direction is maintained for traffic to facilitate NYCDOT bridge rehabilitation. Additionally lane closures may occur off peak hours, as needed on the Henry Hudson Parkway.
West 252nd Street Bridge Service Roadway of Henry Hudson Parkway: Two-way traffic is restored on West 252nd Street as of November 26, 2008. One of two lanes on each service road is closed through November 2009 to facilitate NYCDOT Bridge rehabilitation.
Riverdale Avenue Bridge over the Henry Hudson Parkway: As of October 20, 2008 one lane is maintained for traffic until late November 2009 to facilitate NYCDOT bridge rehabilitation work. Additionally lane closures, as needed may occur off peak hours on the Henry Hudson Parkway.
East 149th Street between Park Avenue and Exterior Street: Two lanes in each direction will be maintained to facilitate NYCDDC roadway reconstruction until the end of November 2009.
Bruckner Expressway between Bronx River Parkway and White Plains Road: One lane may be closed in each direction 10pm to midnight, and two of three lanes closed in each direction 12:01am to 5am weekdays to facilitate NYSDOT construction activity. The lane closure area is confined to the actual work area only.
Bruckner Expressway over Amtrak/CSXT vicinity of Bronx River Avenue to Hunts Point Avenue: One lane may be closed northbound/eastbound weekdays 10pm to 5:30am on service roadway, (1am to 5:30am on the mainline), Saturday 12:01am to 6am or service roadway (1am to 6am on mainline), and Sunday 12:01am to 7am on service roadway (1am to 7am on mainline). One lane may be closed southbound/westbound weekdays 12:01am to 5am on service roadway (1am to 5am mainline), Saturday 12:01am to 6am on service roadway (1am to 6am on mainline), and Sunday 12:01am to 7am on service roadway (1am to 7am on mainline) to facilitate NYCDOT bridge rehabilitation to the end of 2009.
Bruckner Boulevard underneath the Willis Avenue Bridge: One lane in each direction is maintained to facilitate Willis Avenue Bridge rehabilitation work. This work is scheduled to continue through December 2009.
Major Deegan Expressway between East 138th Street to East 155th Street: One lane may be closed as needed southbound 10pm to 5am and northbound 1am to 6:30am Tuesday nights to Friday mornings; southbound 10pm Friday to 6:30am Saturday and northbound 1am to 6:30am Saturday to facilitate NYCDOT Willis Avenue Bridge rehabilitate work until the end of 2009.
New England Thruway I95 at Eastchester Creek Bridge: One of three lanes may be closed in the northbound direction from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday, 10pm to 5am Monday night to Friday morning, 11pm Friday night to 6am Saturday, 11pm Saturday night to 8am Sunday morning. Two of three lanes may be closed in the northbound direction 12:30am to 5:30am, 1am to 6am Saturday and 2am to 9am Sunday. These closures are necessary to facilitate NYS Thruway Authority construction activity until the end of October 2009.
Gowanus Expressway between 92nd Street and 65th Street: A contra-flow Manhattan-bound lane is provided from 6am to 10am Monday to Friday for buses and passenger cars with 3 or more people exiting the Upper Roadway of the Verrazano Bridge. Additionally there are three lanes northbound (inbound) and two lanes southbound (outbound).
Gowanus Expressway inbound/northbound between the Brooklyn Queens Expressway exit and the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel Plaza; Hamilton Avenue/Clinton Street inbound entrance to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel: One of three inbound/northbound lanes is closed. A second lane may be closed as needed except 6am to 11am Monday to Friday. In addition the Hamilton Avenue/Clinton Street entrance to the Battery Tunnel is closed as needed with the exception of 6am to 11am Monday to Friday when one lane is maintained for traffic. These closures are necessary to facilitate NYSDOT pile driving and ramp work until the end of December 2009.
Gowanus Expressway between Belt Parkway and Gowanus Canal: Buses and passenger vehicles with 3 or more people and E-Z pass many use the special contra-flow lane to the tunnel. A special contra-flow lane using the outbound roadway is open from 6am to 10am Monday to Friday with access inbound to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel only. During this time there are two lanes for southbound (outbound) traffic. The southbound entrance from 3rd Avenue at Prospect Avenue is closed from 5am to 11am Monday to Friday. The Gowanus Expressway outbound (southbound) exit to the Prospect Expressway southbound is closed from 5am to 11am Monday to Friday. Motorists should use the prior Hamilton Avenue exit and follow posted detours.
Note: One outbound middle lane is closed between Hamilton Place and West 9th Street (over the Gowanus Canal) with two lanes on the right and two lanes shifted to the left, maintaining the same four lanes of traffic for the peak hours.
Gowanus Expressway Northbound/Inbound BQE Interchanges and Shore Parkway: One lane is permanently closed inbound over the Gowanus Canal, while providing four lanes of traffic over the Canal peak hours. One additional lane may be closed to traffic off peak hours when work is occurring to facilitate NYSDOT long term deck repairs.
Gowanus Expressway/Prospect Expressway Interchange: Off peak hour lane closure permitted as needed to facilitate NYSDOT rehabilitation and realignment work until the end of May 2011. A new traffic pattern is in effect and motorists should use either side of the work zone for access to BQE and Battery Tunnel.
Third Avenue northbound/inbound between 18th Street and Prospect Avenue: Three lanes of traffic are maintained while utility work occurs along the curb lane until the end of December 2009 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway work.
Hamilton Avenue between Clinton Street and Prospect Expressway; Third Avenue between Prospect Expressway and 65th Street; 65th Street between Third Avenue and Sixth Avenue: One lane may be closed on the above roadways northbound towards the Brooklyn Battery tunnel from 10am to 3pm weekdays. One lane may be closed on the above roadways southbound towards the Verrazano Narrows Bridge from 7am to 3pm weekdays to facilitate NYSDOT long term work.
Prospect Expressway (inbound) Northbound at Gowanus Expressway Interchange: A special contra-flow lane is open for buses from 6am to 10am Monday to Friday. The priority lane will use the outbound Prospect Expressway connector ramp for inbound buses. The Prospect priority lane will run parallel to the Gowanus Expressway special lane from the Prospect/Gowanus interchange to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel.
Prospect Expressway inbound ramp to Gowanus Expressway: This ramp is reduced to one narrow lane to support NYSDOT rehabilitation work at the Gowanus/Prospect Expressway interchange until late 2009.
Brooklyn Queens Expressway between Hamilton Avenue and Atlantic Avenue: Two of three lanes in each direction may be closed 1am to 5am Tuesday to Friday, 1am to 6am Saturday and 2am to 7am Sunday from September 23 to late December 2009 to facilitate NYCDOT bridge painting operation. Additionally one lane may be closed during these hours on Kane Street, Union Street, Sackett Street and Summit Street Bridges over BQE as needed.
Brooklyn Queens Expressway between Sands Street and Flushing Avenue: One of three lanes in each direction will be closed 12:01am to 1am, and two of three lanes (one direction at a time) will be closed 1am to 5am Tuesday to Friday to facilitate NYSDOT rehabilitation activity the end of November of 2009.
Belt Parkway at westbound approach to the Mill Basin Bridge (Vicinity of Flatbush Avenue): One of three lanes will be closed in one direction at a time 11pm to 1am and two of three lanes closed in one direction at a time 1am to 5am weeknights Sunday nights to Friday mornings, to facilitate NYCDOT bridge repairs through December 2009.
Ocean Avenue under the Belt Parkway: One lane in each direction is maintained 9am to 4pm weekdays through April 2010 to facilitate NYCDOT bridge repairs.
Park Avenue westbound (under BQE) between Flushing Avenue and Navy Street: One of two lanes in each direction may be closed 10am to 3pm weekdays as needed to facilitate NYSDOT construction activity until the end of November 2009.
Water Street between Old Fulton Street and Main Street: This street may be closed to thru traffic, while providing access to property owners, until summer of 2010 to facilitate NYCDDC roadway reconstruction.
Old Fulton Street between Front Street and Furman Street: One lane in each direction is maintained until summer of 2010 to facilitate NYCDDC roadway reconstruction.
5th Avenue between 24th and 34th Streets: Effective March 24, 2008 through Spring 2010, 5th Avenue is one-way southbound to facilitate NYCDDC roadway reconstruction work.
Atlantic Avenue between Ralph Avenue and Utica Avenue: One lane may be closed westbound except peak hours between 6am and 10am weekdays. One lane may be closed eastbound except peak hours between 2pm and 9pm weekdays. These closures are limited to the actual work area, two blocks at a time, to facilitate MTA-LIRR viaduct rehabilitation project until the end of 2011. One lane will be maintained westbound between Ralph Avenue and Buffalo Avenue on the weekends from 10pm Friday to 5am Monday.
Willoughby Street between Lawrence Street and Jay Street: One lane of traffic is maintained in order to facilitate NYCT long term station rehabilitation until October 2010.
Carlton Avenue Bridge between Pacific Street and Atlantic Avenue: This bridge was closed January 23, 2008. Motorists and bicyclist should use alternate route or follow posted detour. Pedestrians must use the adjacent 6th Avenue Bridge, or Vanderbilt Avenue. This is a long term project to upgrade the LIRR yard and construct a new bridge. This work is being performed by a private developer/contractor and estimated for completion January 2011.
Pacific Street between 6th Avenue and Carlton Avenue: One lane in each direction is open to traffic, while the north sidewalk is closed for long term construction for private developers.
Flatbush Avenue between Dean Street and Atlantic Avenue: Part of the north sidewalk is closed at all times while 5 feet is maintained for pedestrians. Two lanes in each direction will be maintained for traffic flow from 10pm to 6am nightly as needed to facilitate private water main and sewer work. This work is scheduled to continue the end of March 2010.
Van Brunt Street between DeGraw Street and Hamilton Avenue: Van Brunt Street is one way southbound between DeGraw Street and Hamilton Avenue in order to facilitate roadway reconstruction along Van Brunt Street until October 2010. This work is necessary to facilitate NYCDDC roadway reconstruction.
Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge: One lane in each direction may be closed weekdays Monday to Friday northbound toward Brooklyn 9am to 4:30pm and southbound to the Rockaways 7am to 4:30pm as needed to facilitate MTA maintenance work.
Borden Avenue Bridge over Dutch Kills (at 27th Street): This Bridge was closed December 31st 2008 for emergency reconstruction and is scheduled to be reopened Spring 2010. Motorists should plan alternate routes or follow posted detours. This closure is to necessitate NYCDOT Bridge construction activity.
130th Street Bridge over Laurelton Parkway: One of three lanes in each direction will be maintained on 130th Street. One of three lanes in each direction will be closed as needed on the Laurelton Parkway from 10am to 2pm Monday through Friday, 10pm to 5am Monday through Friday, 11:00pm Friday to 6am Saturday, 11pm Saturday to 8am Sunday. Two of three lanes may be closed, as needed in each direction on the Laurelton Parkway from 1am to 5am Monday through Friday, 1am to 6am Saturday, 2am to 8am Sunday through November 2009 to facilitate NYCDOT bridge rehabilitation.
Merrick Boulevard Bridge over Laurelton Parkway: One lane in each direction will be maintained on Merrick Boulevard. One of three lanes on the Laurelton Parkway may be closed as needed in each direction from 10am to 2pm Monday through Friday, 10pm to 5am Monday through Friday, 11:00pm Friday to 6am Saturday, 11pm Saturday to 8am Sunday. Two of three lanes may be closed in each direction on the Laurelton Parkway from 1am to 5am Monday through Friday, 1am to 6am Saturday, 2am to 8am Sunday through December 2009 to facilitate NYCDOT bridge rehabilitation.
Whitestone Expressway between 112th Street and College Point Boulevard: One of three lanes in each direction may be closed 10am to 3pm weekdays to facilitate NYSDOT inspection work through November 18, 2009.
Whitestone Expressway at Van Wyck Expressway/Bridge over Flushing River: All two lanes from the northbound Van Wyck Expressway ramp to the northbound Whitestone Expressway will shift to the right onto newly constructed bridge deck. One lane may be closed on the Whitestone Expressway, as needed, in each direction from 10am to 3pm weekdays; 10pm to 5am Monday nights to Friday mornings; 10pm Friday to 6am Saturday and 10pm Saturday to 11am Sunday. Two lanes in each direction may be closed 1am to 5am Tuesday to Friday; 1am to 6am Saturday, and 2am to 9am Sunday to facilitate NYSDOT reconstruction activity through late December 2009.
Cross Bay Bridge: One lane in each direction is closed at all times. One lane may be closed as needed weekdays northbound to Queens 8:00am to 4:30pm, and southbound to the Rockaways 6am to 4pm to facilitate MTA long term construction.
Roosevelt Avenue eastbound between 126th Street and College Point Boulevard: This street may be closed as needed, 9pm to 5am nightly to facilitate crane operation for new building operation through December 2009.
Roosevelt Avenue between 126th Street and 114th Street: One lane in each direction will be maintained non peak hours to facilitate NYCT painting of elevated structure through December 2009.
Grand Central Parkway westbound between 44th Street and 47th Street: One lane may be closed westbound between 10am and 2:30pm weekdays until the end of November 2009 to facilitate NYCDOT bridge painting operation.
Grand Central Parkway westbound between 48th Street and 31st Street: One lane may be closed westbound 7am to 3pm and two lanes closed 9pm to 6am Monday to Thursday to facilitate NYCDOT bridge painting operation until late November 2009.
Cross Island Parkway from Northern Boulevard to Throgs Neck Bridge: Two of three lanes will be closed 12:01am to 5am Tuesday to Friday and 12:01am to 6am Saturday to facilitate NYCDOT milling and resurfacing operation until early November 2009. Closure will occur northbound first, and upon completion proceed southbound.
Clove Road between Cheshire Place and Narrows Road North: One lane in each direction will be maintained from Chesire Place to Victory Boulevard. One lane may be closed 7am to 4pm weekdays, as needed, between Victory Boulevard and Narrows Road North to facilitate NYCDDC roadway reconstruction through December 2009.
Annadale Road over Staten Island Railway vicinity of Jefferson Boulevard: One lane in each direction is maintained to facilitate NYCDOT bridge reconstruction until September 2010.
Staten Island Expressway (Entire Length): Off peak lane closures may occur between 10am to 3pm weekdays to facilitate NYSDOT maintenance work as needed. Lane closures are restricted to actual work areas only.
Staten Island/Brooklyn Crossings
Verrazano-Narrows Bridge: All truck traffic is restricted from the lower level and must use upper level. One lane on the lower level and upper level to Brooklyn is closed 10am to 6pm Monday to Thursday. The entire lower level or upper level (one at a time) to Brooklyn may be closed 9pm to 5am Monday night to Friday morning and 12:01am to 8am Saturday. One of three lanes may be closed on the lower level and the upper level to Staten Island from 6am to 2pm Monday to Thursday, and 6am to 1pm Friday. The lower or upper level (one at a time) to Staten Island may be fully closed 9pm to 6am Monday through Thursday, 12:01am to 8am Saturday.
Staten Island/New Jersey Crossings
Outerbridge Crossing Bridge: One of two lanes in each direction may be closed, as needed from 10pm to 5am weeknights for PANY/NJ maintenance.
