The Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD)

enacted. Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani approved the legislation on September 26, 1996, and DYCD was created October 26, 1996 to provide the City of New York with high-quality youth and family programming. Our central task is administering available City, state, and federal funds to effective community-based organizations.
DYCD supports New York City youth and their families by funding a wide range of high-quality youth and community development programs, including:
• Beacon Community Centers
• Corporate Internships for Youth
• Literacy programs for adults, adolescent and families
• Out-of-School Time Initiative
• Runaway and Homeless Youth Outreach
• Summer Youth Employment Program
• Youth Workforce Development
DYCD is committed to building and expanding on partnerships that generate innovative and practical programs for youth, their families and communities.
