Domestic Violence Program

Shifts in gender and family roles may increase the likelihood that some immigrant women become victims of domestic violence. Furthermore, battered immigrants face unique challenges that make it more difficult to leave abusive relationships. Limited English proficiency, fear of being reported and/or deported, and unfamiliarity with a new culture may limit access to social services, health services, the police, and employment opportunities. DYCD is committed to stopping the cycle of violence by providing victims with legal assistance, counseling, and access to benefits and services.
