
Adolescent Literacy Program Launched at Scholastic
Inc.

News touting the launch of a new Adolescent Literacy Program, administered by
the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). The event was held at
the worldwide headquarters of Scholastic Inc. in Soho, and featured student
performances as well as testimonials on the importance of literacy from Deputy
Mayor for Education and Community Development Dennis M. Walcott, DYCD
Commissioner Jeanne B. Mullgrav, and Leon Carter, Sports Editor for the Daily
News. The Adolescent Literacy Program targets middle school students and
