This section contains more detailed information on the laws that are applied by the Environmental Control Board (ECB) and that govern ECB proceedings. Please note that this is general information about those laws and how you can learn more about them. This is not legal advice about how you should handle your particular case.
Overview of the Rules of the City of New York
Many of the legal references in this section refer to the Rules of the City of New York, the official collection of the City agencies' rules and regulations. The Rules are divided into 71 parts, or "titles." Each title refers to a particular agency. Within each title, there are chapters, subchapters, and sections that specifically define the processes and procedures for departments, programs, and activities within an agency.
ECB's processes and
procedures are now covered under Title 48, Chapter 3, which describes the rules for proceedings at
ECB in Subchapters A-F and lists the penalty (fine) for each type of violation
in Subchapter G.
