The Family Assistance Unit (FAU) works to assist FDNY families when there is a death, accident or serious illness in the family. We make hospital visits, help with final arrangements, assist with benefit applications, coordinate transportation, find the answers to questions, and sit and listen.

We stay in touch with families as they heal. We support occasions that honor our families' loved ones and events that offer their children happy memories.

The FAU is open from Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. In an emergency the Family Assistance Unit can be contacted via the Fire Operations Center.

Scholarships
