Mortality

When a hospital provides effective care for a serious illness, the result for the patient should be better health outcomes, both in the near term and later. We monitor and report mortality rates for patients for up to 30 days after their admission to an HHC hospital for heart attack care, and compare our performance to state and national rates. Lower mortality generally reflects better care.

The data in the graphs below is reported by all hospitals to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is risk-adjusted by CMS to account for differences in the underlying health and risk factors of patients.
