Commissioner Doar and HRA Featured in "El Diario"
On the 100th anniversary of Father's Day, President Obama and Commissioner Doar were featured in "El Diario La Prensa" for taking a lead on the issue of responsible fatherhood. "El Diario" applauds their efforts to both encourage dads and to make dads accountable, as well as highlighting the importance of having two parents involved in children's lives.

HRA Releases Access to Coverage and Care Project
Based on a recent report released by HRA’s Office of Citywide Health Insurance Access (OCHIA), enrollment in public health insurance was highest in children’s earliest years of school, slowing as those students grew older. The report was conducted in partnership with the NYU School of Medicine and NYC’s Office of School Health.

Commissioner Doar Meets with NYCHA Chairman
Commissioner Doar met with John B. Rhea, Chairman of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), at the Adams Houses housing development in the Bronx. Commissioner Doar congratulated Chairman Rhea on his recent appointment and took the opportunity to discuss NYCHA’s involvement in HRA’s Back to Work program.

HRA Employees Attend ‘Call to Men to End Domestic Violence’ Conference
Ten male employees of HRA’s Office of Domestic Violence and Emergency Intervention Services (ODVEIS) attended the 4th annual Call to Men to End Domestic Violence conference at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The conference focused on ways men can become part of the solution to domestic violence, both as allies to the women in their lives and as role models for young men and boys.

HRA Clients Meet with Employers at 2009 Job Fair
HRA’s seventh bi-annual job fair drew over 2,500 public assistance clients ready to find work to the Jacob K. Javits Center. 155 employers in fields ranging from security and culinary arts to sales, retail, public service and more were on hand to take resumes and meet with clients.

Annual Report Highlights New Initiative Successes
HRA’s Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) issued their second annual report. Highlights include OCSE’s major accomplishments and many new initiatives implemented in Calendar Year 2008, and also points to new initiatives that will start in CY 2009.

Real NYC DADS Give Great Advice on Fatherhood
The Human Resources Administration (HRA) unveiled 10 Ways to be a Great Dad, a new NYC DADS advertising campaign depicting 10 ways that fathers can positively participate in their children’s lives. The announcement was made at HRA’s main office by Commissioner Robert Doar at a reception to celebrate the launch of the campaign.

June 2009 Caseload Numbers
For the June ’09 Cash Assistance Caseload we had an increase of 3,726 persons bringing the caseload to 346,106. There was an increase of 2,420 persons in family Assistance, a decrease of 1,041 persons in Safety Net and an increase of 2,347 persons in 60-Month Converted to Safety Net.
