NYCHA provides affordable housing in a safe living environment for low- and moderate-income residents throughout the five boroughs. You do not have to be a citizen of the United States but at least one member of your family must be a United States citizen or a non-citizen with eligible immigration status to be eligible to apply. DHS offers advice and counseling on shelter alternatives for those at risk of homelessness through Homebase offices located throughout the city. Call 311 to find a Homebase office in your area.
