New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)
NYCHA provides affordable housing in a safe living environment for low- and moderate-income residents throughout the five boroughs. You do not have to be a citizen of the United States but at least one member of your family must be a United States citizen or a non-citizen with eligible immigration status to be eligible to apply.

New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS)
DHS offers advice and counseling on shelter alternatives for those at risk of homelessness through Homebase offices located throughout the city. Call 311 to find a Homebase office in your area.

DHS Office of Client Advocacy
The office assists clients by working in partnership with DHS staff, provider organizations, and other agencies. DHS encourages clients to first work with caseworkers or shelter staff to resolve individual issues.
