It
is a great pleasure to welcome you to the Latin Media and Entertainment Commission
Web site.
New York City has one of the most vibrant and diverse Latino communities in
the world. About one-third of New Yorkers are Latino, and they trace their origins
to every Spanish-speaking country on the globe. The Latino community has enriched
New York’s arts, music, and entertainment industries, and is an invaluable
part of our cultural life. People travel to New York because we are a destination
and to experience the best of Latin culture.
My administration, the Commission’s dedicated team, and our Executive
Director Carlos Manzano will continue to draw on the strengths of the Latino
community to position New York City as the global capital of Latin media and
entertainment.
The Commission’s ambassadors - made up of industry leaders and celebrities
- is developing and bringing major entertainment broadcast events, productions,
and businesses to New York City. They’re expanding and strengthening our
economy through plans that will create opportunities and thousands of jobs in
Latin media and entertainment for the people of New York.
This Web site is a good resource, and I hope you use the wealth of information
it offers and share it with others.
Sincerely,

Michael R. Bloomberg
Mayor
