ANGELA MARIANA FREYRE
Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Legal and Strategic Affairs The Nielsen Company

Angela Mariana Freyre has been the Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Legal and Strategic Affairs The Nielsen Company.  In this capacity, Ms. Freyre oversees major contracts and expands strategic relationships with Nielsen's clients, industry groups and other entities and supports political and governmental affairs.

In 1996, Ms Freyre  worked as a Partner of Coudert Brothers LLP.   Her practice  included representation, and extensive interaction with senior management, of U.S. and foreign governmental, corporate, investment banking and other clients in a variety of areas including mergers, acquisitions, financings, joint ventures, securities and general corporate and commercial transactions.   She has extensive experience in structuring, documenting and negotiating transactions in such areas.  Among her clients were the Republic of Guatemala, Soros Economic Development Fund, CS First Boston (formerly Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation), The Overseas Private Investment Corporation, Barings Latin America Fund, Empresa Electrica del Ecuador, Robert Bosch GmbH, DePuy Inc.

Prior  professional experiences include work at Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon LLP, and the Department of State, Agency for International Development, Office of the General Counsel

In 1981, Ms. Freyre was a Fulbright Lecturer at the Université de Droit, d'Economie et des Sciences Sociales de Paris (Paris II. )  She established an American Common Law Program for l'Université de Paris II and authored Legal English II, a textbook published in France and used in the American Common Law Program of l'Université de Paris II and twelve other universities in France.  From September 1982 to January 1984, lectured on the Constitution and the Federal System in the United States to masters program and doctoral students.

Ms. Freyre is a Member of the Task Force on Diversity in Film, Television and Commercial Production in New York City, the City of New York Conflicts of Interest Board, Member of the Board of Trustees of The New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, Inc., and a Member of the Board of Trustees of LongHouse Reserve.

She received a B.A. in History and Political Science from Wesley College and a J.D. and an L.L.M. (International and Comparative Law) from Georgetown University Law Center .  She received a D.E.J.G. Mention Assez Bien/Honors from the Université de Droit, d'Economie et des Sciences Sociales de Paris (Paris II.)
