  On October 15th, 2008, Deputy Mayors Carol Robles-Roman and Robert Lieber joined the LMEC and Chairman Mario Baeza at its first LatinVision Convergence Conference held at The Times Center in midtown Manhattan.  The 2008 Convergence Conference is the premier event for Latin media, entertainment and technology CEOs and executives looking to grow their business, create new opportunities with Latin audiences and to reach the mainstream. This one-day event brought together over 300 senior professionals who represent the best minds in the Latino media, entertainment and technology markets showcased by New York City’s Latin Media and Entertainment Commission (LMEC) in partnership with LatinVision Media.


Mayor Announces First Fiesta Cup Soccer Game

  Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced the first Fiesta Cup soccer game, between the national soccer teams of Argentina and Peru. The exhibition match between these two international powerhouses was one of the first initiatives of the Latin Media & Entertainment Commission.


Mayor Announces 2004 Latin Film Festival

  Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Latin Media & Entertainment Commission along with HBO announced the dates and films for this year's New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF). NYILFF, which ran from July 27 through August 1, 2004, celebrated its fifth year and featured an impressive slate of more than 60 films including several U.S. premieres.


Mayor Creates NYC Latin Media & Entertainment Commission

  Mayor Bloomberg announced the leadership appointments to the New York City Latin Media and Entertainment Commission. The Commission will work with the Mayor's Office to create and execute a strategy to position NYC as a global capital for the Latin media and entertainment industry.
