Perry Avenue-The Bronx

Commission Approves NYC's 100th Historic District
The Landmarks Preservation Commission on Dec. 15, 2009 approved the designation of the Perry Avenue Historic District in the Bedford Park section of the Bronx, New York City’s 100th historic district. The new district consists of nine Queen Anne-style houses constructed in 1912.

Commission Approves Prospect Heights Historic District, NYC's Largest Since 1990, and Three Individual Landmarks
The Landmarks Preservation Commission has unanimously approved the designations of the 850-building Prospect Heights Historic District and three individual landmarks in Manhattan, and advanced the proposed designations of 1,100 more buildings in all five boroughs. Read more.

Fort Greene Block

LPC Grant Program Revitalizes Fort Greene Block
Three row houses in Brooklyn are among the dozens to receive funding each year through the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s Historic Preservation Grant Program. In the last 10 years, the federally funded program has provided more than $1.8 million for the restoration of historic properties in all five boroughs. The program was awarded a lifetime achievement award in May by the Metropolitan Chapter of the Victorian Society of America for its significant contribution to the understanding and preservation of the New York City metropolitan area's 19th and early 20th century heritage. Proposed Fieldston Historic District Master Plan
A Master Plan, proposed for the Fieldston Historic District in the Bronx, was the subject of a public hearing on July 7, 2009. The proposed master plan covers various types of work, including additions and outbuildings, windows, heating, venting and air-conditioning, and alterations to landscape improvements.

Windermere Demolition by Neglect Suit Nets Record $1.1 Million Fine
New York City Corporation Counsel Michael A. Cardozo and Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) Chairman Robert B. Tierney announced today that the City has reached a record $1.1 million settlement to repair the 130-year-old landmark Windermere apartment complex. Read more.
