The goal is to create opportunities by developing relationships that will increase participation of individuals with disabilities in the New York City workforce. WHAT IS DISABILITY MENTORING DAY? WHAT HAPPENS ON DISABILITY MENTORING DAY?
In 2008, through a network of more than 50 companies in the New York City area, Disability Mentoring Day witnessed participation of more than 150 students and job seekers with disabilities. They were mentored by almost 220 private, non-profit, governmental, and educational organizations. The day concluded with an evening reception held at City Hall hosted by Matthew Sapolin, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities. In addition, Disability Mentoring Day received publicity in both local and national newspapers, and on local and national radio and television stations.
