NYCHA Continues Making Repairs Citywide to Positive Results
NYCHA efforts to expedite a backlog of repairs while facing severe federal budget cuts has not gone unnoticed. Find out more about work to preserve public housing in New York City thanks in large part to Deputy General Manager for Operations Carlos Laboy-Diaz. Since his appointment in March 2011, Laboy-Diaz has worked to revamp NYCHA's work order system while forming a task force of skilled trade workers to address apartments with outstanding repair needs. The task force has completed 40,000 repairs in 10,000 apartments since its formation by moving from development to development rather than handle repairs on a case-by-case basis.
