Flat Rent Schedule in Effect for NYCHA Residents

Flat Rent Schedule in Effect for NYCHA Residents
To ensure all residents are subject to equal rent standards, NYCHA will gradually raise rent to 30 percent of household income over the next five years. Currently, close to a third of residents pay less than 30 percent of their income for rent. NYCHA began discussing making changes to its rent policy during Plan NYCHA resident meetings, as well as the Fiscal Year 2013 Annual Plan roundtable meeting discussions last year. The first wave of increases will begin in May 2013.
