The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is seeking youth between the ages of 14 and 24 for the 2009 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). SYEP is sponsored by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD).
The 2009 program will run from July 1, 2009 through August 14, 2009. Participants will work 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday. NYCHA residency is not required to qualify for the program.
NYCHA’s SYEP participants gain valuable employment experience working in Community Centers as Counselors-in–Training (16 and 17 year olds only), on NYCHA development grounds as assistant groundskeeper, or perform administrative duties at Central Office locations and approved external worksites.
Starting April 20th, 2009 interested youth can apply online at DYCD's website, or download an application from the NYCHA website (see application below).
SYEP applications are also available at NYCHA Development Management Offices, Community Centers and at the Department of Resident Employment Services, located at 350 Livingston Street in Brooklyn. Completed applications must be returned to any NYCHA Development Management Office no later than May 15th, 2009.
