NYC Energy Efficient Products Procurement and Usage Law

Law: NYC Administrative Code leaving NYCWasteLess (Search for Title 6, Chapter 3, Subchapter 3: Energy Efficiency Standards)

Summary: Local Law 119 of 2005 leaving NYCWasteLess promotes the procurement and use of energy efficient products. The law requires the City to follow Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) leaving NYCWasteLess standards of energy efficiency in the use and acquisition of energy-using products including those with an ENERGY STAR leaving NYCWasteLess label.

This law is one of a series of environmentally preferable purchasing laws that cover goods and construction products.

History: This law was preceded by and incorporates the elements of previous laws including Local Law 37 of 2002 leaving NYCWasteLess and Local Law 30 of 2003 leaving NYCWasteLess and waste prevention and efficient materials management directives that promote the procurement of energy-saving products.
