passed 11 Local Laws in 2010 to update and expand the NYC Recycling Laws. This law is part of the update.
Law: NYC Administrative Code (Search for Title 16, Chapter 3, Section 16-310.2: Paint stewardship program)
Summary: Local Law 33 of 2010 amended the NYC Recycling Law to require DSNY to establish a pilot voluntary paint stewardship program under which manufacturers, distributors, and retail establishments that sell architectural paint set up a collection or other reclamation system to collect architectural paint for reuse, recycling or environmentally sound disposal. DSNY is required to provide guidance for and promotion of the program.
