Donate to charitable or nonprofit organizations and thrift stores. Visit NYC Stuff Exchange to find the one nearest you, or see listings of where to donate below. Check charity websites to see if they have a Wish List posted.

Organize donation drives at work, school, or at home and prearrange with a large charitable organization, such as Goodwill Industries or the Salvation Army, to pick up the collected materials at a designated time. Promote your drive on the NYC Stuff Exchange Calendar of Events. (See the note about textile recyclers in clothing.)

Check out the NYC Service website for other places where New Yorkers can donate goods.
