An Auxiliary Police Scholarship Fund has been established in memory of
Auxiliary Police Officers Nicholas Pekearo and Eugene Marshalik who were killed
while protecting the citizens of New York, Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly
announced today.
“The scholarship fund will serve as a living memorial to the courage and
commitment of two brave auxiliary officers who made the ultimate sacrifice,
“Commissioner Kelly said.
The scholarship fund is designed to promote higher education among auxiliary
police officers. The NYPD’s Scholarship Committee will establish the
criteria and determine the recipients of the scholarships.
A fund has been established in the names of APO Pekearo and APO Marshalik to
receive donations from the public to provide scholarships for current and future
members of the Auxiliary Unit. The scholarship fund will be administered by the
New York City Police Foundation
