New York City Family Justice Center Initiative

The New York City Family Justice Center Initiative of the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence reduces barriers faced by victims of domestic violence who are seeking help.  This innovative program enables victims to meet with a prosecutor, speak with a trained counselor, and apply for housing and financial assistance in just one visit – all in their native language while their children play safely in the next room.  By providing services in one location with partnering City agencies and community providers, the Brooklyn and Queens Centers are increasing the effectiveness of service delivery to break the cycle of violence.   Mayor Bloomberg has committed to opening a third Center in the Bronx.  The New York City Family Justice Center Initiative is a private/public partnership of the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization established to promote partnerships between the City and the private sector.

Available Services
The Family Justice Center (FJC) provides information and services for domestic violence victims in one location. Clients may walk in and choose which services they want, services are free and available to all victims regardless of sex, age, nationality, religion, or sexual orientation.  Language interpretation is also available.

Subway: Take the A, C, or F train to Jay Street; the 2, 3, 4, or 5 train to Borough Hall; or the M or R train to Lawrence Street.

By Bus: The B25, B26, B38, B51, B54, B57, B61, B65, B67, and B75 buses all stop near the Center.

The New York City Family Justice Center in Queens  is located at 126-02 82nd Avenue off of Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens, Queens and is accessible by public transportation.

Subway: Take the F or E train to Kew Gardens/Union Turnpike.  Use the "Court House/North Side" exit and walk east on Queens Boulevard past Queens Borough Hall.  Turn left on 82nd Avenue.

By Bus:  The Q10, Q37, Q46, Q60, and Q74 all stop near the Center.

By Car: Take Grand Central Parkway eastbound to the Queens Boulevard exit.  Or take the VanWyck Expressway; if driving south, exit at Union Turnpike; if driving north, exit at Queens Boulevard.
