On Wednesday, June 11, 2008, Mayor Bloomberg recognized NYC CERT members from across the five boroughs at Gracie Mansion. CERT members, instructors and special guests enjoyed a night of good food, and music, and congratulations. Mayor Bloomberg even hosted a short NYC CERT quiz game for lucky volunteers.

During the last five years the program has grown to include over 60 teams and 1,000 trained members.

On November 17, 2007, members representing NYC CERTs from all five boroughs gathered at Randall's Island FDNY Fire Academy to participate in an all-day training. The training used tabletop exercises and disaster simulation to test teams' response skills and their use of the Incident Command System.
