On September 14, OEM hosted its third Partners in Preparedness reception at the Intrepid Air, Sea & Space Museum in Manhattan.The event provided an opportunity for OEM to thank its partners for their dedication to educating the public and promoting emergency preparedness in New York City.

During his speech, OEM Commissioner Joseph Bruno honored the New York City Department for the Aging (DFTA), the Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater New York (BOMA), and New York Cares for their outstanding commitment to emergency preparedness.

First Deputy Commissioner Calvin Drayton enjoyed a few laughs with other attendees in the Intrepid's reception area before the awards ceremony.









DFTA Assistant Commissioner for Emergency Planning Linda Whitaker accepted an award from Commissioner Bruno and Deputy Mayor Ed Skyler. DFTA was honored for its help in distributing Ready New York for Seniors and People with Disabilities guides and assisting in presentations in senior centers throughout New York.



BOMA New York’s President Angelo Grima, along with BOMA Emergency Preparedness Committee Chairman Lou Trimboli and Director of Legislation Sylvester Giustino posed with their Ready New York award. OEM awarded BOMA New York for its work in preparing the commercial real estate industry for emergencies.



New York Mets Vice President of Security Robert Kasdon and ICE-QUBE President Leslie Fastenberg were among those invited to the reception. Leslie starred in OEM's Ready New York video.






Volunteers from United Senior Center in CERT Brooklyn Community Board 7 enjoyed refreshments on the Intrepid’s reception deck. CERT members were honored for teaching their communities about emergency preparedness.




New York Cares Executive Director Gary Bagley accepted the award from Commissioner Bruno and Deputy Mayor Skyler on behalf of the organization. New York Cares was recognized for bringing volunteer support to nearly 1000 non-profit agencies across the five boroughs.
