Mayor Giuliani Outlines City's Accomplishments in "Mayor's Management Report"

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today released the Preliminary Mayor's Management Report (MMR) for Fiscal Year 1998, which covers the period July 1, 1997 through October 31, 1997, and for selected programs, through December and January 1998.

"This Report describes the dramatic changes that New Yorkers experience every day," said Mayor Giuliani. "The MMR tells the story of how we have reversed trends that were previously thought irreversible, how we have restored safety and order, created a robust and thriving business environment, pared welfare rolls, and improved the efficiency and delivery of City services. Reflected in the Report is a detailed accounting of the changes New Yorkers are experiencing on the street, at work, and in school. These changes have already been called historic and unprecedented. But as this Report shows, we are not resting on our laurels. The initiatives and improvements demonstrate that our progress continues to accelerate, and that every day New York City is becoming a better place to live, raise a family, do business, and visit."
