Questions:
- If the job you are applying for requires
residency within NYC that means that you
must establish a residence within the
five boroughs of NYC (Brooklyn, Bronx,
Manhattan, Queens, or Staten Island).
If you do not establish residency within
ninety days, the Agency will rescind its
employment offer to you.

provided in the job advertisement as,
each agency may have specific instructions
or requirements. When applying, we strongly
suggest that you:
- Submit a cover letter noting your
current salary, perm and/or provisional
Civil Service Title, and the specific
job that you are applying for.
- Submit a resume that includes your
name, complete mailing address, phone
numbers, and complete information
about your employment experience(s).
If you have an opportunity to submit
your resume via email, please submit
your resume and cover letter as a
word attachment (NO ZIP Files, DAT
Files, or Links to other sites). We
also suggest that you insert your
full name, Job Code sought, and the
Words "City Candidate" in
the Subject Header.
- No. The City of New York does not pay
for relocation or expenses incurred for
an interview.
- Each job in the City has a specific
Civil Service Title, and all hiring is
based on relevant experience as well as
Civil Service Qualifications. Candidates
seeking positions within the City of New
York must be able to meet the Civil Service
Requirements for that specific job. There
are no exceptions to this rule.
