New Initiatives that Further Enhance the City's Workforce
In addition to its statuatorty duties, the WIB
has established a workgroup structure to examine other critical
workforce issues in New York City. Through this structure, WIB members connect
with local experts to explore workforce issues that are in line with the
WIBs Strategic Plan and offer innovative ideas and policy solutions
for implementation. Past workgroups have focused on issues such as Prisoner Re-entry and the implementation of the Berger Commission findings. Current initiatives include:

The New York City Workforce Investment Board is
committed to promoting access to publicly available information about New York
City’s workforce, labor market and economy. In response to the great demand
for timely analysis of the City’s labor market and economy, the WIB has
partnered with the City University of New York to develop the
New York
City Labor Market Information Service. In collaboration with the WIB the NYC Labor Market Information Service will develop impartial, high quality research products designed to inform policy makers of the critical issues affecting New York City’s labor market and economy. This newly established entity will be housed within CUNY’s Center and is expected to release its first product at the end of June.
