2007 Commerce Bank Five Boro Bike Tour

Date: Sunday, May 6, 2007 - 8:00am (rain or shine)
Start: Battery Park, Lower Manhattan
Distance: 42 miles/68 kilometers

For the 30th year, the Commerce Bank Five Boro Bike Tour returned to the streets of New York City as the largest recreational cycling event in the U.S. This exciting tour attracted over 30,000 cyclists for a leisurely ride on traffic-free roads throughout all five of New York City’s boroughs. Riders began in Lower Manhattan, rode up through beautiful Central Park, continued up through Harlem and the Bronx, crossed over to Queens and Brooklyn and finished in Staten Island. The Tour ended with a fun-filled festival at Fort Wadsworth in Gateway National Recreation Area on Staten Island.

The Commerce Bank Five Boro Bike Tour was produced by Bike New York and the New York City Department of Transportation. Bike New York is a non-profit organization that promotes and encourages bicycling and bicycle safety through education, public events, and collaboration with community and government organizations. Best known for the Commerce Bank Five Boro Bike Tour, Bike New York also organizes smaller rides and runs a Bicycle Education Program offering free classes and workshops for adults and children.
