Every year, the Mayor hosts "Consular Corps Day in New York City," a reception for all Consuls General posted in New York at Gracie Mansion. At this reception, the Mayor expresses his gratitude for the services the consulates provide to their communities and to the residents of New York. "Consular Corps Day" is an annual event that both this Commission and the members of the consular community look forward to every year. The Mayor also hosts “United Nations Day in New York City”, which honors the work of this world organization, headquartered in New York City. In attendance are the Secretary General, senior United Nations Secretariat officials, and Permanent Representatives of Member States to the United Nations.

The Commission also provides various seminars to promote good relations and facilitate understanding between the diplomatic and consular community and the various government agencies that interact with them. Alongside officials from United States Customs Service and U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Services, the Commission hosts an annual seminar for consular officials posted in New York.

The Commission works with the New York City Police Department to provide the "Safety in the Consular Community" seminar for members of the consular community. The Commission hosts a seminar about “Consular Notification and Access, and Diplomatic and Consular Privileges and Immunities”, which informs various law enforcement agencies (federal, state, and local) about the immunities and privileges of the diplomatic and consular community, based on The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and The Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
