Fire Commissioner Scoppetta and Health Commissioner Frieden Warn New Yorkers
of Dangers of Illegal Fireworks
Mayor Bloomberg, Police Commissioner Kelly, Fire Commissioner Scoppetta
and Health Commissioner Frieden today warned New Yorkers of the consequences
of transporting, buying, selling or using illegal fireworks. In New York
City, all consumer fireworks are illegal and individuals caught buying,
selling or using fireworks will be arrested. Those caught transporting fireworks
into the City will have their vehicles seized by the Police Department (NYPD).

Mayor Bloomberg and Chancellor Klein
Announce Results of Second Annual Public School Survey
Mayor Bloomberg and Schools Chancellor Klein today announced the results
of the City's second annual public school Learning Environment Survey. The
survey was initiated last year to help schools improve by asking parents,
teachers, and students in grades six through twelve to assess how well their
schools were serving them. This year more than 800,000 parents, teachers,
and students-one in ten New Yorkers-returned surveys weighing in on their
schools, nearly 220,000 more responses than last year.

and Bank of America Announce Free Bon Jovi Concert in Central Park During
MLB All-Star Summer
Mayor Bloomberg, Jon Bon Jovi, Major League Baseball Executive Vice President
Tim Brosnan and President of Bank of America Global Corporate & Investment
Banking Brian Moynihan announced today that Bon Jovi will play a free ticketed
concert on the Great Lawn in Central Park on Saturday, July 12th at 8 p.m.
The concert, sponsored by Bank of America, will take place three days before
Major League Baseball's Midsummer Classic during the last year of Yankee
Stadium.
