Mayor Bloomberg and Parks Commissioner Benepe Announce MulchFest 2009 Will Be Held This Weekend
Mayor Bloomberg and Parks & Recreation Commissioner Benepe today announced the 13th annual MulchFest, a citywide event where New Yorkers can recycle their Christmas trees by converting them into wood chips. This year, Parks & Recreation has designated 89 recycling sites to accept trees throughout the five boroughs on Saturday, January 10, and Sunday, January 11, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. At many of the tree drop-off locations, chippers will be on hand and residents will be able to take home mulch for their own gardens and plants.
